12 basic mistakes you can’t make with a microwave, beware of waves

We all make mistakes in life. To be born good, although, frankly, good, but without him we would be better. After pointing out the mistakes you shouldn’t make with the fridge, today we’ll show you meatballs to avoid with the microwave if you want to keep doing crazy things with the microwave, like warming up leftover crab-pesto-camembert lasagna.

1. Do not open the lids of its drawers

It is very important to allow air to escape so as not to damage the containers. Do not forget to open the box before heating the dishes, otherwise you risk deforming or even breaking the container. By allowing air to circulate, you will also avoid hot food protrusions during opening. Clever.

2. Forget to cover the dishes while heating

The second very important tip, which is combined with the first: even if you open your little lunch box, you should at least leave it with a lid (or if not, use the lid). Why? Well, it’s very easy not to spill it on the whole microwave, especially with dishes in sauce (like your bolo from the day before, delicious, but a little less when it is lined with the walls of your device). Believe me, this will save you a lot of annoying cleaning.

3. Do not wash the microwave oven completely

Let’s say you didn’t listen to our second piece of advice. Well, not well, but listen, it happens. Now that the dumplings are ready, avoid cooking the second one, that is, forget to wash the microwave oven often, and allow the dirt to turn into old moldy crusts that cannot be scraped off. I promise you don’t want to reheat your inlaid food for three months with each use. So once a week we take a little sponge to clean it all up and we love life.

4. Do not pierce its cover

Like lifting the lid, you must also pierce the lids of the finished dishes before placing them in the microwave. Otherwise you will have a catastrophe … Water particles will accumulate under the influence of heat and risk causing an explosion (and spread them everywhere again). Not the best moment of your day as you can imagine.

5. Using the wrong containers

To warm up our dishes, we tend to direct our ass with containers. Big mistake! For example, never place terracotta dishes in a microwave oven, as this porous material absorbs waves. This way, the dish will be hot at the end, but the food will be cold (which is not what you want). Similarly, avoid the use of plastic utensils, which when heated can leave traces of toxic materials in food (especially melamine).

6. Place aluminum items there

Come on, admit it, you already had time to flash in the microwave, wanting to warm up the jar with a new spread. This is because you severely scratched the lid, which contained aluminum. Yes, because aluminum does not like the microwave (it is too microphobic). Aluminum is indeed a conductor of electricity, and sparks generated in a microwave oven can ignite the device. The same goes for gold borders on dishes: metals should not be exposed to a microwave oven, and the slightest spark can have serious consequences.

7. Using too much energy

Using random forces (don’t be shy, we all do, but thanks to us you will become a Watts genius), we risk cooking from the inside, not the outside. Therefore, the risk of burns is at least a thousand times higher. Care!

8. Do not wash the tray regularly

We do not condemn you, we also have the concept of purity, which differs depending on the objects. But, contrary to what you might think, the microwave tray needs to be washed much more often than the rest of the appliance. You will almost have to wash it after each use to prevent the smell of food from previous meals. Say so, though, it seems quite logical …

9. Defrost the meat

Unfortunately, don’t do this if your microwave doesn’t have a defrost function !!!! By thawing meat in the microwave, you run the risk of pre-cooking it and therefore making it hard (and tedious to chew). This way, you will not enjoy cleaning mignon fillets with tarragon sauce. And it would be a shame …

10. Do not take breaks for mixing

We tend to forget this little pause button when using the microwave (he saw it very badly, by the way, not cool for him). However, this allows us to stop cooking to stir our dish to distribute heat and prevent it from being hot at the edges and cold in the center. Oh yes, that’s reasonable.

11. Warming up pizza or quiche ???

By itself, heating the dough in the microwave is not so bad. But this will only soften your food, which will give you less pleasure from its taste than in a traditional oven. You are warned.

12. Use it to warm up something other than food

In fact, when you have an important day ahead and your clothes are still wet from all your clothes, you may be tempted to put two or three pairs of socks in the microwave to dry them. The worst idea in the world. You just risk setting the microwave on fire and having to mourn your socks. Many items of clothing contain tiny pieces of metal that can also cause sparks. Apparently, it is better to wear wet pants than to lose an apartment.
