The Avaz’Art sculpture festival opens its doors on Saturday: a meeting with the president!

On foot, by bike, by car… or even by private jet specially chartered for the occasion (!!!), all modes of transport are suitable to reach the Avoz’Art festival, which opens its doors on Saturday 30 July at 10 a.m. in Mured!

Avoz’art is an unusual sculpture festival that takes place in the small village of Mured, or rather in the church.

The opening will take place on Saturday, July 30, at 6:30 p.m.

We met Beatriz Fernando, a talented sculptor behind the founding of this festival, of which she is president.

Zherska newspaper: Avoz’art 9th edition starts on July 30. Can you introduce us to the festival?

Beatrice: This year you will again discover more than twenty sculptors who will offer a wide selection of creations: sculptures in wood, bronze, metal, ceramics and different materials such as wire, cardboard, glass and even papier mache.

Zherska newspaper: What’s new this year?

Beatrice: Earlier in the week we welcomed impressive animals such as the giant eagle that takes up a lot of space in the church and the metal iguana, things that are worth the trip.

They are the work of a sculptor Frank Cobb.

Zherska newspaper: Do you have any favorites among the artists who are exhibiting?

Beatrice: I love them all because I chose them, but I will admit that I really like Frank Cobb’s work!

You really should discover this young talent.

i can fall in love again Emmanuel Michel, a young artist known throughout the world who creates human-scale structures in bronze or non-ferrous metal. His works are installed in the village square.

Zherska newspaper: And you yourself, what are you exhibiting this year?

Beatrice: Unlike last year, when I did a lot of animals, this year I made characters that were a little more fancy, a little simpler.

You can also find a series of fetish sculptures, grigris, which are small characters inspired by ancient African tribal sculptures.

Zherska newspaper: Avoz’art is an exhibition as well as sculpture and modeling courses.

Beatrice: The courses are held over two weekends on August 6 and 7 and August 13 and 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

You can take your picnic and have lunch in the village square with the artists.

They were brought to life by sculptor Marciac Nicolas Viry.

Internship is free.

Zherska newspaper: Avoz’art will celebrate its 10th anniversary next year. Are you planning something specific?

Beatrice: Yes, I would like Nicholas Weary to perform a piece for us live in the village square during the 15 days of the festival.

The sculpture that will be offered to the municipality of Mured!

The festival runs from July 30 to August 16, inclusive, from Monday to Friday from 14:00 to 19:00 and on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 19:00.

The opening will take place on Saturday, July 30, at 6:30 p.m.

Guy Pegot will be present to sign his book Entre lumière et pénombre, which pays tribute to the sculptor Camille Claudel.
